I have heard that there are companies out there that will give pumps to individuals that meet certain financial criteria for pumps and even a place that will supply all of the tubing etc. I cannot find any of these sites, has anybody else looked, have success or hints????

Right on for those of you
Right on for those of you who haven't heard pumps will soon be available to more of us. I can't wait for mine! :)
I too, was wondering about
I too, was wondering about that. I have been a diabetic for 30+ years and just recently became interested in the insulin pump. However, when I talked to my doctor about getting an insulin pump, he told me that he didn't think that I should get one, because I generally have good control of my blood sugars and so on.
With my thinking though, I would like to get one, just to make sure that I don't have any long term complications of diabetes and after all, it should be up to me and not my doctor if I should or shouldn't go on the pump. Is it not???!
If you happen to find out anything about where a person can get subsidized or even a free pump, could you please let me know.
Thanking you in advance

Audrey, I am still having a hard time coming across this information. I agree with you about it being your choice and not your doctors. I think that even with good control that a pump is even closer to mimicing what your body does naturally and can give you great control. Not to mention the ease of not having to inject multiple times a day. I have talked to people who have pumps and everyone has loved it. Hope I can get some info quick.

Hello Ladies, I am actually
Hello Ladies,
I am actually starting on a pump next week and I did so much research before making my decision but I didn't find anything anywhere about free pumps or subsidising.
When I spoke with my doctor about switching to the pump, he was all for it...even though, like Audrey, I have really good blood glucose control. He told me it would make my life a lot easier & I wouldn't have to keep myself on such a tight regiment which will be so much better for me.
If you do find any info about free pumps, I would still like to know. I think the government should subsidise pumps & supplies for us!!! What are we paying OHIP for??
